The Final Evisceration

Updated on February 1, 2015

It took awhile,

but he had to understand

everything in the case-file,

his train of thought crashing,

while the cameras were flashing,

and the one bedroom apartment

was a total wreck,

but what bothered the lead detective

was the disrespect,

it started with the ligature

across her neck,

starved her breath,

to prolong her death,

cigar burnt skin,

deep puncture wounds, very thin,

torture was clear,

as the vomit smell filled the air,

a long jagged scar

and a brutal vaginal tear,

there was the absence of rape,

but the fear of it was there,

her eyes shut with masking tape,

shocked by the horror,

as the terror would drape,

it was a horrible attack,

as he watched two attendants

roll the corpse,

turning the dead woman

slowly on her back,

her chest ripped apart,

and the final evisceration,

was the pulling out her heart.

Shades of Jack the Ripper. What terror and pain were inflicted on that poor woman and shared so descriptively here. Another top notch horror Frank.

      Voted up, awesome, and interesting.

It must have been as hard for you to write this as it was for the police to see the body. Another well written poem/story Frank. I voted up, shared and pinned it.

Frank you are one hell of a poet! You open up the darkness and expose it for us all to see. We can't hide, we have to keep reading! You my friend are a genius of bringing the dark truth into the open and making us feel and see what we would rather pretend doesn't happen! This work is awesome and the imagery breath-takingly brilliant in its capacity to hit home!

You have real life monsters and terror down to an art and put into words the horror that is modern violent crime in the most powerful way. Bravo!

Gruesome act. Description clear as always but the saddest part is that it is not the imagined, impossible invention of a story that has never been. It is the after view of the dark parts of society.
