The Fingers of a Dream

Updated on March 2, 2011

The Fingers of a Dream

I find it quite amazing,
the power of a dream
to linger beyond waking...
the impact of its theme.

If it is a pleasant dream,
from which I may awake...
I feel vaguely happy
with emotion that's opaque.

If I have a nightmare
from which I may arouse...
its vaguely sharp discomforts
my consciousness espouse.

Nightmares leave me out of sorts,
those recalled or not...
they lurk beneath the surface like
malingering dry rot...

I, often, find them hard to shake,
a baffling event...
they hide beneath my consciousness
to whisper their torment.

I find it quite amazing,
the power in a dream
to linger beyond waking...
and tease with its regime.

Amazing, captivating poem! Dreams are a mystery, the reality of a kind, enchanting universe that sometimes looks more real than life...

Oh to dream, sweet peace or nightmarish twisted hell. I long for sleep yet fear at times my soul will erupt into the darkest abyss of nothingness.

What awaits us there? in the dark shadows of a dream, merriment and peace or anguish and clutching to heavens edge, clawing to leave and sing with the Angels.

Oh to dream, such pleasure or such sorrow. Rated Up..bravo, very well done...

I haven't had a nightmare since I was a child, but I'll never forget the dream of a lion outside my bedroom window growling and another one when I was again in my bedroom, I drew open the curtains to find giant ants crawling on them! Anyway, I pay close attention to my dreams, I do believe our loved ones and spirit guides speak to us from heaven through our dreams.

It's always such a relief waking from a nightmare to realize it's not true. However, they always linger, as you allude to. Well done. Cheers.

Which is the dream? The time you spend free from thought and judgement snug in bed or the time you spend moving about in your body looking at everything through clouds of thought? Who is the thinker and who is the dreamer? Do you dream or are you being dreamed? If you are the flute and you are aware of your music then who is blowing the flute whose music you can hear?

Another great and thought or should I say dream provoking hub.Thank you.

Sleep time in this day and age is so important for our health. The brain waves never sleep, like our Lord God never sleeps, and to me dreaming is another way of filtering our minds. We have a choice to remember our dreams, and to interpret a dream is a gift, yet anyone can learn to figure out what dreams mean. Got any good dreams you need to interpret? I actually have the gift of dream interpretation. Let me know. CM

bbnix, Dreams are, indeed, from the most fascinating of dynamic realms, the subconscious...they are messengers to the conscious mind, I always, a joy to see you! Thank you! Hugs!

Ah, the world of dreams. A nice rhythmic poem for one of the most dynamic of realms, and amazingly, a time and place unique to each of us 6 billion humans (with a few exceptions), and that encompasses the most terrifying of horrors or incredible of accomplishments, and perhaps, both all in one night...

      Nice job No_
