The Master's Furnace

Updated on December 15, 2010

Say we aye...

when looking for Him...

wanting Him to look at us...

hoping all is right with Him...

how we live, what we do...

yet when He presents us with his tongs...

asking if we wouldn't hop in fire for Him...

Most I hear, sing different songs...

People when they throw around words...

wondering who might be saved or no...

they skip over the baptism by fire...

thinking it sounds too painful to be real...

they can't even get such things by water right...

how will they consider the fire too?

If I say baptism means my all...

immersing myself as a token...

leaving nothing out...

then I must accept that fire too...

administered in self same fashion...

One might ask if I'm OK with that.

I loudly declare the answers, "Yes."

And to that cause I devote my life...

the hotter the better is my motto...

I would have to say I got my way...

Am I ashamed that my pain is mistaken?

Some have wonder how God could allow.

Every blood stained step to heaven...

allows me to advance the Cross an inch now...

that I might be known as I know myself...

knowing our marks to be alike...

if in the end I earn my stripes...

I shall dance the more with delight.

So what of you?

Will you follow...

braving fire to follow Him?

Are you satisfied with your water...

sprinkled here and there...

a soggy hem to testify of that?

Know this, that both must be...

before all is done...

I would think done was what you wanted...

take a step into the dark...

exercise faith to do a bit more...

thank the Father for the Fire...

watch yourself change...

your spirit sore.

The trial by fire. I hope I am ready, for I feel it may be soon. I so want to measure up!

Thank you for writing so poignantly.

Then you do not believe in the testament of Job nor of Abraham. I grant that it wasn't the devil that Father was talking to in Job but the rest proves true. The testament of Moses also rubs with that assessment. Malachi frankly defies you. I am curious how you can believe that?

Father is a father of love and faith. He does not test the love of his children only cherishes it.

Those are dangerous words, I have never known Father not to test such. I wish you happiness on your journey dear friend even if eventually is the best I could promise from experience.

If the time is now then a baptism of fire is in order, and I am ready to face it. Anything God requests of me, I am ready to do without question.

And what if, My dear friend, the time is now?

Well done Jaggedfrost! As a follower of Jesus I believe in one totally immersing oneself. That said I was born and raised a Catholic therefore my baptism was a mere sprinkle. Since then I became "Born Again in Jesus Christ" The Christian Ritual of a full immersion Baptism is no longer permitted me by the church but I have still I believe been filled with God's Holy Spirit and cleansed by the blood of Jesus.

As for baptism of fire, I am more than ready to deal with this when the time comes.
