The Forgotten Trail

Updated on August 1, 2016

Choices pen our own life. What stories would you want to include?
It's either you make your own choice or listen to other people's voice.

Sometimes in our life, we come to a crossroad where we have to choose one path versus the other. And most of the time, we leap into quick decisions and later regret it. How do we know which road will lead into a successful journey? How do we know what is the right path for us?

Making decisions involve a thorough analysis, especially when this decision can affect not only our lives but as well as the lives of people we love. We have to carefully choose what we think and feel right. Mind and heart will go hand in hand in order for us to take the path we want.

But sometimes along the way, we regret the decisions we made and then we look to the past and think what will happen if we chose the other way around?

I made many mistakes in the past. Then I come to the point where I was trapped in a maze I made myself. I would sit and reminisce of the “what if’s” on my life. What if I’ve taken that other road? Where will it lead me? Will my life be not miserable like this?

Nobody knows the future, but you know what kind of future you want to build for yourself. And for that, making right decisions matter. Weighing the pros and cons will help you a lot to determine which way to go and which road to travel. We may encounter a lot of hindrances along the way but as long as you believe in yourself, as long as you trust your decisions in life, it can lead to a successful trail.

When we find ourselves whining for the “what if’s” and yearning for the road not taken, always remember that at one time in your life, that choice is all you ever wanted for yourself. So never regret all the choices you have made, may it be good or bad, can make you smile or sad, this is not yet your final destination.

So we don’t have to stop or look back or try to find that road again. Because once you’ve chosen one road, the other road closes... forever.

But we still have the chance to find that crossroad again in the next chapter of our life. Mistakes are made, and yes, nobody is perfect. And that mistake will mold our lives and shape the future we decide for ourselves. One bad choice is not the end of the world. Maybe, it’s the way to your own path of happiness. We will never know if we will stop and keep looking for that closed road which you have not taken at the first place.

So be happy whatever choice you will make and never regret it. Choose wisely, live happily and embrace the future with a strong heart. Go ahead and sail the seas, spread your wings and believe in yourself. Go out, make your choice and make your dreams come true!

And most of all, always believe that God is always there to guide you whichever way you will choose.

Oh how much your wisdom is valued in this post, dear friend. I have made choices in the past that were unwise, as you say, we must move on. Thinking before you act, makes for better decisions. Blessings.

That is the most important thing to always keep in mind that the Lord guides us every step of the way. We must also be prepared to learn from our mistakes so that we can know which road to choose. Well done.

Sometimes it's so difficult for us to forgive ourselves for making the wrong choices. Lovely, interesting hub. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we always made the choice that God wants us to make?

You have shared some great advice in this hub. Thinking about a choice that wasn't made is a sad activity. I think it's much more important to make the most of the present path in life.

A very practical hub. We always have been there some time or the other. But being sad or repent is not the solution. I believe in standing by any and all the decisions I have decided to take in due journey of life till now. No matter what is it but I am responsible for my own decision regarding anything that has been a part of life till now and for future the same view will be applicable sure. I was not always right and never been all the wrong either. But that is life and we are not always perfect as you said above. The greatest part is to accept as we have been and we are. Main aim should be not to repeat things which have been hurting deep and learn from those. Rest is simply all right to take as many experiences to enrich our journey through out this life. Thank you for this thought provoking hub here. You have been rite in this one all through out. Shared and votes way up. Take care and be happy friend:-)

Yes, all have made bad choices in this life and wonder the "what if" but it is the here and now that truly matters, and so glad we are able to make that choice to live life to the fullest and love and be love.

      Up and more and sharing

God bless you. Hugs, Faith Reaper

Interesting. Bad Choices or Bad Miskakes? You can make a good choice and then make a mistake that turns out bad. You can make a mistake just from making a wrong choice. So many options out there. Something we have all done. What is important is to find the solution to correct the mistaken choice and live with it the best way you can. Happy trails and tomorrow - Up.

A strong message and a very wise one. We all make mistakes and it is how we deal with them that matters. What is past is and we have to live for the here and now and hope we make the the right choices for the future.

      Have a lovely weekend

Great wisdom in this....I call it the shoulda, coulda, woulda syndrome. So many people are locked in regret over past actions, and it is so silly to do so. We made our decisions; now we must deal with them....and above all, be happy with life and love others. :)

Good points! We need to learn from our "mistakes", the things we ma have chosen badly and go on. "Make your choice and make your dreams come true."

      Voted up, useful, and interesting.

Spy, we always have a choice. We don't always make the right choice, but we can change that. That's how we learn. I don't believe the other road is closed forever. We can re-open and travel its path if we so choose.

      Great post!
