The Public Eye

The Public Eye

When fame is your fortune,
celebrity's child,
Fate can be fickle
when choices are wild,
and your fans,
once adoring and
oh, so beguiled...
can turn, in an heartbeat
to hostility, riled.

It's the price that you pay
for the fortune of fame,
the red carpet walk or
the dread walk of shame.
Notoriety lurks in the
shadows of blame
if you wander outside of
the rules of the game.

They'll worship a hero
or broil a cad...
both are activities
delightfully had.
The public is willing to
follow its fad...
to love and to hate
make them equally glad.

When fame is your fortune,
discretion's is wise.
Be a role model or
it may mean demise...
For the eye of the public,
sleeps not, in its guise
when fame is your fortune
to quickly reprise.

Radioguy, people in the public eye forget they are under the microscope, sometimes...tis the price for fame...and can make some pretty crazy choices that take them places they never wanted to go....but when you are a celebrity, dirty little secrets tend to get aired...I appreciate your read and thoughtful comment! Peace!

Well said, living under the microscope is a tricky business, isn't it.

Indeed it is, Max, and not everyone who lives in the public eye is up for it! Thank you for your read and awesome comment!
