The Ghost From My Past

Updated on October 23, 2014
Source

Do you hear the faint sound in the night?

It is a whisper of another time long ago.

Such is the time of a ghostly tableau

My inkwell filled with my heart erudite.

I grasped the meaning

Of the soulful smile

In front of me

And my head is reeling.

I reach out to touch you

While the orchestra in my mind plays

A capella for the former days

In turn, I see through.

And my spirit holds the Key of Life

While the conjecture from my inner being

Holds your hand ever so tightly

While my eyes across the miles are unseeing.

I know that I knew you

In another day and time.

And my heart is sensing the sublime

In whatever we can do.

I only fear that this dream will end

And it will fade from my memory,

As though it has never been

Something that I had never really seen.

Give me a sign that you were really here

Leave me a piece of your mind

Make it all crystal clear,

So we might be intertwined.

I grasped the meaning

Of the soulful smile

In front of me

And my head is reeling.

My kidlet is too small for shoocl yet, but on shopping in general, I take him a lot. But some days I just crave the freedom of cruising through a store on my own timeline. The things you appreciate when you're a Mom! LOL

I love the chorus "I grasped the meaning of the soulful smile and my head is reeling." Those are beautiful words. Great poem, and also a beautiful picture up there. You take marvelous photos even when they don't contain a single bird.

Aviannovice, you are a multi-faceted woman. I have now read this a couple times. Loved it. It really hit home with me. It reminds me of a man holding the Salvation Army bell at Christmas time as I entered a department store in Honolulu. He held the door open for me after we had conversed but a moment. His eyes were clear blue. He stood in clean but scruffy clothes. When his eyes and my eyes met, it was exactly like your poem. I felt I had known him in another time. It reminded me of the scripture which says we often entertain angels, unaware.

Beautiful poetry, Aviannovice. Voted everything up but funny. Sharing.

You have beautifully captured the fine moments from the storehouse of time which is either past or future. The present is a minute fraction, which is there and is not there, as it becomes past the moment it appears from future.

It is quite poignant when we dream of loved ones lost. But, it is also beautiful to know they miss us as well and, I think, wish to visit us. This is what I saw in my mind's eye reading your touching words, Deb. Very beautiful.
