The Giant Balloon

Updated on August 6, 2012

I had a dream last night

That I was holding the string

Of a giant balloon

And then for some reason

You climbed inside of it

And waved down at me

And we both smiled

But then suddenly

Without warning

I let go of the balloon

And you started floating

Further and further away

Until you disappeared

And I knew I'd lost you

But what bothered me the most

Was that I absolutely no idea

If I'd let go of the string

On purpose

Or if it was an accident

Of course I wanted to believe

That I didn't mean to

But either way

I could have held on tighter

And I didn't

And I would have to live with that

If it wasn't just a dream

Gotta hold on to your dreams. Reminded be of the scene in The Wizard of Oz where the big balloon takes off without Dorothy.

You're poem was a pleasure to read . Dreams are nearly always peculiar.

      Voted up and beautiful, Joyce.

I rarely get dreams that I can figure out..this one you had leaves you with little doubt as to it's interpretation...and from it you have written a great poem. Voted up

Very interesting, how tight is to tight when holding onto a dream? I don't rightly know.
