================

A teenage boy longs to be friends with the attractive blond-haired girl who sits at the desk in front of him. He dreams about talking to her, seeing her smile, holding her hand, asking her out on a date and gently stealing a first kiss. But he is too shy to even try because he knows that he is overweight and not at all handsome. What chance would he have with such a beautiful girl who can have her pick of all of the boys in school?

The Girl with the Golden Hair

=====================================

She sat at the desk in front of me, the girl with the golden hair.

I desperately wanted to talk to her, but she didn’t know I was

there.

When she looked toward me, my pulse rate soared; perhaps there was a chance.

But she turned and looked the other way without a passing glance.

-------------------------------------------------

She sat at the desk in front of me, the girl with the golden hair.

I desperately wanted to see her smile, but she didn’t know I was

there.

When she gently laughed she lit up the room, perhaps she would smile at me,

But she was looking at another boy, it wasn’t meant to be.

------------------------------------------------------------

She sat at the desk in front of me, the girl with the golden hair.

I desperately wanted to touch her, but she didn’t know I was there.

I could tap her hand and ask her for the assignment for today.

But what if she suddenly let out a sound and pulled her hand away.

--------------------------------------------------------------

She sat at the desk in front of me, the girl with the golden hair.

I desperately wanted to ask her out, but she didn’t know I was

there.

What would she say if I dared to ask? Would I simply be refused?

Or would she laugh at me and tell her friends so that they would be amused?

--------------------------------------------------------------------

She sat at the desk in front of me, the girl with the golden hair.

I desperately wanted to have her love, but she didn’t know I was

there.

I realized that my chances were much like a snowball has in hell,

Then suddenly all of my daydreams ceased – I was awakened by the bell.

Eventually, the teenager grows into a man, but some things never change. The desire to find love continues and soon daydreams persist even at night. The journey continues in:

      That darn bell! We have such fantasies when we are young. A cute poem, so real for a young boy.

      I think you have captured what so many people go through at some point in their life. It's nice to read this from a male perspective. I'm sure many men young and old experience this scenario when they want to ask someone on a date. Voted up :)

      Both funny and beautiful! I loved it... took me back to my days of school... when all of us new teenage lads yearn some attention of the blondes in our class
