The Glass Half Empty - Poetry

Updated on March 13, 2011

You look at the glass half empty

I look at the glass half full

You say my optimism is silly and child like

I think your pessimism is dull

Each morning when I wake up

I’m Thankful for a new day

But you open your eyes and grumble

Wishing everyone would just go away

Happiness is seldom seen on your face

You chase every rainbow away

It’s hard to endure this misery

Sometimes it’s hard to stay

I wish you could stop and realize

Just how blessed you really are

Instead of thinking that life’s passed you by

And what you’ve missed so far

You take beautiful diamonds

And throw them away like old coal

Never realizing their value

Wondering why there is a chill in your soul

Please step in the warmth of the sunshine

Please come and stay a while

I want to hear your laughter

I long to see your smile

Throw off the darkness around you

Walk away and you’ll see

The joy of running in sunshine

The peace in the shade of a tree

No longer look at the glass half empty

Look and you may see

That the glass is really half full

And we’ve  been blessed all along you and me

Friendship is a beautiful garden with lot of smell like a perfume. A best friend is a gift to us by God. A best friend is a worthless asset of a person . A best friend is a sincere person on whom we can depend in the time of need. As it is said, " A friend in need is a friend indeed. "

...well you always fill my glass full as you are definitely one of my favorite groupies - lol lol - and this poetic contemplation of yours - brings up another sentiment -are we living IN the moment or are we living FOR the moment?

I always like your philosophical views on life because it makes me think and I'm glad I did - signed with affection and respect, the epi-man, one of your favorite groupies .....

      Thank you epigramman,

I appreciate your very positive review, as well as, having you as a solid fan.

I rather think that I live IN the moment FOR the moment, as who knows what the NEXT moment will bring.

      Cheers!

Very nice! I wish I could find another diamond like you! Alas, I am a terrible lump of coal! God bless!

All it takes is a bit of cutting and polishing and you'll be a beautiful diamond in no time.

Thanks for your kind words, Micky.

That was very positive and lovely miss jkim. I like to go through life trying to see everything as optimistic as I can. I voted it up, shared and pinned it.
