The Hands of Time

The Hands of Time

Upon the face of every time piece,
the second hand is never still,
ticking off each moment passing
to pave the path to minute's will.

Sixty seconds make the minute
and sixty minutes lend the hour...
Once its gone, it fades forever,
banished, then, to History's Tower.

Each hour moves the little hand,
from twelve to twelve, and, then, again.
Twice around the dozen markers
ends the day without amen.

Seven double revolutions
around the face those hands do twelve,
build seven days into a week
and onward into Time, they delve.

Four weeks accrue into a month.
A month, for most, consists of four...
and twelve of these construct a year,
to stand await at History's door.

Immortal wings, both sight and soundless
carry Time into each dawn.
Each moment, fleet, if gone unnoticed...
vanishes and is, thus, foregone.

Time is a gift, to each, it's present.
If killed or wasted, is forever lost.
Behooves us all to make it worthy
of its dear impending cost.

bella, that is the silliest thing I have ever heard out of your pen! Flattering, but silly! To be perfectly honest with you, I am struggling with my Muse, as well...but patience and perseverance, along with a tender, open heart is the key...you are a powerful writer with a deep desire to affect the world in which you live...a willing vessel who is being used to give hope where none has been...who could ask for more? You are "blooming where you are planted" and gracing the garden of the King! Be at peace, Girl! I love you, lots, and am deeply inspired by your spirit!

Ahh, my two greatest writer loves. I have to say it's so quite amazing, the two of you are here, not just here at hubs, but here with this one bub.

Just a bit more of your patience for a picture is now facing us,

a strong will of lets now start for the three of us to impart, and I don't mean just our play, for I'll a bit write today, but I'm also talking of a stand to sculpt your two's words so grand.

I now know its true, that what you two do, is the gift for my embrace, for which we'll all race - into the future, that is...

I now see its clear that my sculpture is as dear that the three of us can reach the highest of highs by working as one peer.

I can promote Bellas sweet book and Tenders sweet hook and together we'll change a world for all's look..

Ruby, this came as a gift, to remind me that time, if wasted is lost. I seem to be spending too much time waiting, for what, I do not know, but waiting, none the less, and needed a little gentle persuasion, as it were...I just feel compelled to share the message! Thank you, for your faithful support! Hugs!

I do try so hard not to waste my time, it gets more precious as I get older, but even more so now when I've looked the end full in the face it takes on a whole new dimension, not enough of it to do all the things I want, great topic and well written :-)

      tnderhrt,

so beautifully done as are all your poems- each moment IS precious because we don't know how much time we have left. When I was reading this, I felt like I was back in my favorite English class reading the works of Frost, Kilmer, Dickinson, etal. What a treat! Thank you :>)

Time just stoodeth still. Not only is the subject brilliantly observed but the execution is timeless. I love to read inspired creative thoughts, such as these. Like an expensive clock this poem belongs in an ornate carved wooden casing. Cheers.
