"The HeadPhoned Horseman" by Eric Wayne Flynn

"The HeadPhoned Horseman"

On his metal steed

His high horse, his horse on high

He beheaded the market

With his chump change

A chump for change

Y'all can't change this chump

Riding in the cold winter air

Guilty of being thankful

A prodigal son indebted to a nation of bastards

Fighting doubts implanted in the heads of the grateful

He removes his, tucking it under his arm

A symbol of sacrifice humming in the night

An extremist taking it too far

Performance art for the Gods that simply don't care

Programmed and destined to detonate

No audience; they dance with sugar plums

Envious, the HeadPhoned Horseman travels through rough conditions

A rough condition, conditioned to condition himself

Stripped naked of objects, free; objects, ill conditions of wealth

Not sad, not happy just a creature at peace

Knowing life not eternal, the horseman signs a new lease

Understanding value, unwound and unbound

A loose grip on reality, ideas and concepts unfounded

A result of fit survival

An inspired symbol of revolution galloping in an endless abyss of fear

Predicated consequence, silently festering

Baptized by fire, the flames remain

Burning coals in his soul keep him going

A product of environment, arrogant and brash

Bravado of a king, no scepter, no robe, no crown

Logic his shield, his pen his sword

Dedicated to a cause, he rides

The title of this poem alone "The HeadPhoned Horseman" is worthy of a vote up Eric. I like the line "Performance art for the gods that simply don't care", apart from that, everything Jamie said. Well done.

Thanks Jodah, support appreciated. I wanted to write today but I have nothing to say, so your kind response will tide me over until I find inspiration, whenever that may come.
