The Heart of a Rebel

I’m so sorry for today my son, I’m sorry for your pain…

I know how much it meant to you, it wasn’t just a game…

All summer long you worked your butt off and fought hard to make the weight…

Without a doubt no matter what you do, I know that you’ll be great…

You have the grit and determination to overcome any strife…

You have ambition and the drive you’ll need to succeed in life…

You made me so proud today my son, even prouder than if you had won…

Proud of every tear you shed, I know losing isn’t fun…

But crying doesn’t mean you’re weak, it just shows how much you care…

You have the strength and courage to do the things that others wouldn’t dare…

You told me before the game that you were going to play with fear…

The fear that you might get eliminated, much like you did last year…

I watched as you played your heart out and came up a little short…

But you showed you have the will to win and that you’re made of sport…

And though the season ended abruptly, I know you’ll come back for number four…

You’ll do anything you can for the team and then you’ll do some more…

Because you have a winning attitude, I know that you’ll go far…

Cause once a Rebel, always a Rebel…it’s part of who you are…
