The Hour is UP

Updated on November 4, 2012

The Time Is Up

Source

The hour is up

'You see I am dying', the son said

'I have to go, mom.'

He Said

'The time is come, see you soon.'

'Hey GOD!' said the mother

'I’ll make a deal with you'

“I give you all my love'

'But don’t take my boy,'

Take me Lord, take me”

Very little comment here please

Passing through love is a final stage

Whenever you can seek it out

“Oh Lord!

He is so young, he hasn’t lived

Give him life

Take mine!”

The black marble stone felt so cold

So graphic

Winking at death

Pulling at straws

With a thousand fixed eyes

Praying her hardest

“Oh Lord, take me just take me, now.”

'Let my boy have life

Don’t take him now!'

These battlegrounds

So bloody and true

The pain and guts

Spread galore

“Just take me Lord, Let him Live!”

Holding old Glory High

Through mire and muck

Slush and slim

Through tattered and torn

Yes

Now the hour is up!

She pleads some more

The day has come

Like she knew it would

The pain of war

So tried and blue

Death so real and true!

Where days and tomorrows are yesterdays

Source

“Lord hear me,

"Just take me Lord, Let him live!”

Penetrating and piercing my being

She lifts my hands in worship

"Just let him Live!”

The hour has come!

"Let him Live! Don't take my boy."

They have served us, some gave their lives, some gave body parts, some gave pain.

I am very sorry for those who came home from Vietnam. We never gave them the respect, the thanks, or the love we should have.

Today I am glad it is different. This poem is one that proves it.

It is a part of a soldier's family life. They do give up much in serving, and sometimes the life of a loved one. Touching. Thanks for sharing.

This was very difficult to read through tears. What a touching plea that any parent can relate to. Add to that the parent of a soldier and it is even more moving. Truly a beautiful poem.

Deborah - Very heartfelt and sad, but a way of life in the war times we live. Many a mother's heart has been broken by first the brown envelope and then the remains. They are, unfortunately, the echoes of the world we reside. Beautifully said, my dear!
