The Hug - Poetry

Updated on February 12, 2013

Arms around each other

Heads touching

Feeling each other's warmth.

A greeting or comfort or

An encouragement.

Rubbing or patting the other person's back.

Often accompanied by

I love you

Or, maybe, Good to see you.

Even, I am so sorry.

So easily understood

No matter the language spoken

Causing a smile to break spontaneously.

Knowing acceptance and belonging.

Drawing strength to continue steadfast.

Crossing all barries.

Even children understand this.

Children know how to do this.

The hug,

So simple.

So complex.

Betty and Minnetonka, Thank you both for reading. I am so glad you both appreciated this. Don't let an opportunity go by to hug those you love.
