The Ice Cream Man is Here - a Poem and more
Ring-ti-ling-ti-ling!, the bell is ringing in the air.
That’s the sound of the ice cream bell loud and fair.
“Mama, the ice cream man is here, can you hear?”
“Please give me some centavos, he’s coming near.”
“Okay here,” ma generously gives and say
“Include your brothers and sister; that’s enough to pay.”
“The largest cup I could find,” with eagerness, I thought.
From the kitchen to the ice cream man, a cupful I bought.
“Mamang Sorbetero, Mr. Ice Cream Man, salamat!”
“Thank you for the delicious ice cream;” to resist, I cannot.
On a hot sunny day, far up the burning streets you walk;
Pushing, pedalling your ice cream cart block to block.
Your friendly smile not ever tired to greet us children;
The tune of your single bell, in our naps we awaken.
Your kindness of extra scoops, did you fall for my charm?
My innocent trick works every time, didn’t mean you no harm.
Till next time, Mr. Ice Cream Man, I’ll wait for the bell;
I’d be all grown up perhaps, only time will tell.
If you’re still around, we’ll joyfully run for you
Now, my children will taste the purple ice cream too.

English translations of "Mamang Sorbetero" by me and my cousin
I was in dire hope to find an English translation of the full lively/happy song- "Mamang Sorbetero" (Ice Cream Man) sung by the famous Filipino Singer, Celeste Legaspi, but so far, there seems to be none in the Internet that I could have come across to share. This song is beautiful and makes me sway. Thus, the challenge to compose English translations below in two versions (one by me and the other by my cousin Katrina Mabugat) hopefully, you'll find it delightful to sing along with the instrumental piece video from Youtube with which I do not own. Enjoy!

Mr. Ice Cream Man, tell me your name
The ice cream you sell is making me insane;
Heat of life, you cast away with no sweat
Unhappiness, I do remember to forget.
Mr. Ice Cream Man, c’mon let’s dance
The bell you hold, give its wave a chance;
Little children waiting long for you
You give them joy this summer through.
Behold the clouds in the sky taking a peek
Shaped like an ice cream in heaven’s cheek;
The eyes of a maiden, dreaming in the air
There is a secret her thoughts wouldn’t bare.
Lips are hot and eyes are on fire
Love is burning, with pity she desire;
Mr. Ice Cream Man, oh where are you now
The Heat of life, cool it down somehow.

Ice cream man, what's your name
Ice cream you're sellin' I so really like
Heat of life, you make it go away
Pain in my heart, makes me forget
Ice cream man, let's dance
Bell you're holding, shake it up again
Little ones are waiting for you
Give joy during sunny days
Notice the clouds in the horizon
Shaped like ice cream in the skies
In the eyes of a dreamy teenager
There's a secret that comes to mind
Hot lips, blazing eyes
Flaming love, Begging you please
Ice cream man, Oh where are you
Heat of life, make it go away
