The Illusions of Security

By Tony DeLorger © 2013

Empowered by the illusions of security,

we walk the earth amassing objects,

and circumstances that for us, define stability,

protection against unwanted change,

which we can understand as security.

Yet change is a fundamental part

of growth and gaining experience and knowledge

that renders security an ideal in flux,

always adapting to the changes inherent,

in progressing through each stage of life.

Security therefore comes from within,

not outward circumstances, always evolving,

but an understanding that one will prevail,

be able to cope with struggle and adapt to change,

as is our plight in earthly life.

The illusions of security,

come about through ignorance of change,

thinking that if all is well now,

it shall remain if held tightly enough,

unable to change and therefore offer security.

Reality bares the fruit of knowledge,

each moment, each second, change ensues,

and we, in our limited way, decide to adapt or struggle,

to be launched into a helpless confusion,

or find security within one's self, in potential and action.

Security may not be found in any acquisition,

not wealth, houses, cars or any object of desire,

rather in our own acceptance of a world in movement,

and knowing that whatever changes,

we can rely on ourselves to cope and survive.

That is a real security.

Know thyself and accept it...and become whole.

As you can see Robert, posting hubs is what I do; there's no stopping it.

Really interesting poem. You can't always buy security like most people seem to think.
