The Inbred Seed

Updated on March 3, 2011

Manipulation is
an instinctive skill
accomplished by
both lips and quill...
inherently is
given birth
upon our entrance
to this earth.

An infant's cry
solicit's milk...
the pattern set
can weave the ilk.
It is a skill
that practice hones
into an art that
bares the bones.

Subtle, in its
finest hour,
the master can
yet sculpt his dower.
Oh, inbred seed...
Oh, willful tool
of word and deed,
You often grow
like Eden's tree..
enticing fruit
that's hard to see.

It does me, too, Max! Lots of times, that is what my poetry is...a system of checks and balances for this writer! Thank you, as always. Your comments are humbling, and touching!

Very deep, Marsha, skillfully described, expressive poem, sends me back to the bottom of my soul for a check-up. =)

...well no matter what 'poetic' identity you choose - it's just all the same - brilliant writing - and so very obvious that you were just born to create this great art form .....

You are very much in command of your language. Manipulation by both lips and quill -- love that concept.

Funny thing about this one, Spirit Whisperer...I can spot it at play around me but not so much within me...yet I know it's there...for it is inbred, after all...calls for examining those motives...for me, anyway! Thanks so much!

You describe the human survival mechanism so eloquently in this poem. Great awareness. Thank you.
