Panic consumes them

In the dark, theatre room.

How do they escape?

Just moments ago

Everything seemed so normal

When the Dark Knight rose.

Now it is a sea

Of confused adolescents

And many adults.

Was that a gun shot?

Someone screams with all their might.

People flee in fright.

Law enforcement has

“The Joker” in custody.

This is travesty.

Twelve have departed

To the other side of life

Safe and sound tonight.

Fifty-eight people

Suffering from injuries

Sleep with fear tonight.

Thirty survivors

Are in the infirmary

For their outside wounds.

Eleven people

Make way to recovery

From serious wounds.

Please pray for the ones

Who have been robbed of loved ones

Let them mourn in peace.

Lets come together

As a country united

To never forget.

The world is made of

Many people in disguise

Appearing normal.

To end this poem

Lets reminisce the lost souls

Departed from life.

To be forgotten

Is when someone truly dies.

Never forget them.

No matter how tough

The obstacles are in life

Everyone is loved.

"The image in our heads is stuck in there. I still have the ticket right here and, honestly, I'm never going to forget this night at all."

A beautiful tribute my friend. We will never understand what drives some people to do senseless acts of violence.
