The Label You Give Me

Updated on May 13, 2012
Source

You stand there, looking down at me and make me feel so sad.

You say because I am a queer, that i am something really bad.

The label you have gave to me has just began to hurt.

My future wont be easy now, because I feel like dirt.

Whatever made you say it, its just nasty bigotry.

Please dont call me no more names, Oh wont you hear my plea?

You think that I am something just for you to ridicule

You think that your the best thing and the one who is really cool.

To you my feelings do not matter, as a human I don't exist

You have taken away my freedom and .gave me your labeling list.

You do not care that you are wrong, my plea you only fight.

To you I am just a queer and a queer has no right.

These labels bring destruction to all you brand them with.

You might think that its harmless but that is really just a myth.

Remember that were human and that everyone has rights.

The right to live in freedom, and peace from peoples fights.

I have heard it said in many times that people hide away.

I believe you pick on me for show, to hide the fact your gay.

Does it make you feel invincible, by calling me those words

Do you feel you have the power because you know that it hurts.

I think that your pathetic and petty you I do

Because I see it now so clearly that the label is really you.

You do not like to be hurt right back, and run away you see,

All this has came from a label that you have just gave to me.

I hope that you are careful as not all shall be quiet.

So watch those little labels as you may just cause a riot!!!!!!!!

Hi Chris thank you so much, one day we shall be free. It is a very hard road when you are gay you encounter a lot of prejudice but you do also encounter a lot of good people as well who dont see your gender as an obstacle.

I suppose the bad has to balance with the good, and its great that so many heterosexuals are so welcoming to gay people these days than say ten years or even fifteen years ago. Its a long road but we are getting there.

      Thanks for commenting.

My brother is gay and this reminds me of him and some of the stories he has told me about his journey. You are a whole person, and I hope that you and all gay people are someday accepted and are free.

      Chris

Thank you amymarie, I am glad you like this poem... I inspired someone with this poem that they used it in the IDAHO(International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia) day celebrations here in Britain...

I really like this poem. It's very honest and full of emotion. Biggots like to put others down so they can feel superior. It's pathetic. I rated this up.
