The Lady Has Left The House

Updated on April 22, 2011
Deborah Demander profile image

Deborah is a writer, healer, and teacher. Her goal is to help people live their best lives everyday by sharing her joy and love of life.

Cover the mirrors

and stop the clocks

The Lady has left the house.

Gone without fanfare

without any noise

the only thing left are echoes of joy.

Bar the windows

and lock the doors

she's gone away, she's here no more.

The children are mourning

outside the wind wails

the cold house is empty, she left no trail.

Although she's now gone

she still sometimes speaks

a whisper on the wind, a floorboard creaks.

She smiles through flowers

and birds sing in the rain

the Lady is close, she's returned once again.

This is a right fine poem, m'am. Hey, I passed through Wyoming last week. I was in Sundance and Sheridan. I went to Devil's Tower. Just passing through. Good day to you.

Lovely tribute to any dear lady that one has lost for whatever reason. It made me think of my mom, my grandmothers and all of my female relatives that have passed on to the great beyond, yet i still feel them at various points in my life. Superb poem~~~MFB III
