Your Last Swan Song

Your Last Swan Song

I've held your hand for way too long,
hummed your tune or sung along.
Today I sing your last swan song
and don a new sarong.

With grateful heart, today, I bid...
adieu to all you said and did...
forgiving debt with humble quid
to never more forbid.

Rest in peace, my parents dear,
you gave me life, that is quite clear...
and did your best with what was near...
to make my grand premier.

I lay a rose, on each, your grave.
Thank you, now, for all you gave,
release the hurt that can enslave,
and face the dawn, now, brave.

This is a beautiful, touching poem, but especially hard for me. I'm not terribly close to my parents, and every day, they grow ever older, and I have nothing to say.

I'm fear of the day, when lost they'll become, but I've long since gave up hope they'll accept me as different yet forever their son...

I am so sorry, bb...I do know that feeling, however, for I was never accepted by my parents, either. It is their loss, my friend. Hugs!
