The Little One

The Little One

The little one sat down with her parents to eat,

The diner was filled with hungry people from off the street,

She was dressed in pink with her hair pulled up in back,

As soon as the tray came, in her seat she sat back,

She bowed her head as did her brother, mother, and father,

Then she clasped both her small hands on the table in front of her,

With all the noise and clatter I could still hear,

Her young beautiful voice saying grace without a sign of fear.

My heart filled with joy at such a wonderful sight,

I could feel the peace of God's love and shining light,

As I sat there watching this little one praying out loud,

Where many a grown up would have cowered with fear,

She was praying out loud for the whole world to hear.

Her mother, as she said, "Amen," looked straight into my eyes,

I was smiling and she smiled back with pride in her eyes,

She looked down at her little one with such a look of love and pride,

The first thought I had was God's love you can't hide,

This memory is burned into my heart forever more,

God lives on in little ones' hearts even today,

With a world full of so many who say he is not real,

In the hearts of his faithful down to the smallest He is definitely alive still.

How awesome that the little one trusts in God and believes He is the provider of all. Thanks so much for sharing this smile.
