The Magic of Childhood
Childhood, for most, is a truly magical time. It is a time of wild imaginations and sensational experiences. A time when each day brings a whole new realm of adventure and amazement.
As a child every waking moment is lived, truly lived. Time is not wasted thinking about the 'shoulds' or the 'have tos' or 'or elses'; responsibilities and burdens are thrown aside and forgotten about...and that fantastic empty space that they could potentially occupy is filled to the brim with a wide array of light-hearted emotions.
A child wakes up with the world. Naturally, they rise not long after the sun - leaping out of bed with boundless energy, filled with joy that another day has come. Another day to play, to learn, to explore, to imagine! Oh the joy!
A winter's day can be filled so gleefully with a bunch of brightly coloured crayons and some paper. A chuckle of fun or that pretty frown of concentration as manifestations of a child's imagination are created so vividly - rainbows, butterflies, v-shaped birds flying through a soft blue sky......
But maybe a splash in the rain would be more fun?! On with the wellington boots and the shiny plastic anoraks and out into the magic of playing in the rain. Chins pointing to the sky as the big grey clouds sprinkle rain drops onto the tongues of the open-mouthed wonderers; glistening frogs leaping away from the catch of the wild explorers, sparkles of water splashing all around as playful feet dance in the biggest puddles they can find.
The experience is surreal. The experience is real. It is the Magic of Childhood.
