The Mail Plane - a short nonsense poem

Updated on March 11, 2015

The Mail Plane

Loading up the mail plane

Tightly shut the door

Look out, here comes Colin

'Is there room for just one more?'

'One more what?', asks Pilot Pete

Knowing very well

That Colin wants to hitch a ride

To see his cousin Kel

'Oh hurry up Col 'n' climb aboard

I haven't got all day

I'm on a schedule - can't be late

I must be on me way'

'G'day Pete', a voice calls out

It's Colin's Aunty Dawn

'Can I hitch a ride to Gil?' ...

'Me grandson's just been born'

'Oh ... alright Dawn,

but hurry up. I'm running late ya know'

'I won't take long, just fetch me dog

He's gonna compete in the Show'

'All aboard, I'm closing the door,

I've gotta get on me way'

'Hold on Pete', calls Kath the nurse

'Emergency! Can't delay!'

'I'm needed back at the clinic now

So let's get this plane in the air

Don't know why it takes you so long

To get from here to there!'
