The Meeting- a poem
By Tony DeLorger © 2011
I’ve reconvened this meeting,
please now find your seating,
the bleeding hearts are bleating,
let’s get this underway.
Unsure of how your feeling,
I must insist on realing,
you in to my persuasion,
your votes are mine to claim.
Now who’s is happy with me,
my leadership so worthy,
my words so spoken truly,
your votes expected now.
And who needs time to ponder,
consider my words much stronger,
your doubts exist no longer,
you’ll sign and that’s a fact.
We live in a democracy,
and pay you will for blind deceit,
I’ll buy your vote without receipt,
so put your hands out now.
The votes are counted and I have won,
oh thank you for your trust and love,
you honour me with your support and votes,
I am humbled by this act.
Democracy is alive and well,
my heart is filled with power and will,
now that I have bought you still,
the pain has yet to come.
I suggest you just keep nodding,
and let my will keep rocking,
the boat you thought was mooring,
is floating out to sea.
As long as cash keeps coming,
and my adversaries running,
I’ll stand here on the podium,
and lead you from behind.
Aren’t you glad I bought your votes,
and kept the dream you had afloat,
with cash in hand and life remote,
you won’t even notice sinking.
This meeting is adjourned.
