The Miracle of Birth -- A Haiku Poem

She sat with patience

Within a semi dark path

Relaxing her eyes

She felt the pain strong

She fought with her inner strength

Awaiting the time

She cleanses his fur

Waits to see him stand his ground

And watches him run

Explanation: I recently watched a documentary on Caribous (animals of the deer family that inhabit the northern parts of the globe). A small portion of that documentary was dedicated to a mother Caribou giving birth to her son. The baby Caribou, once born, is cleansed by the mother, and immediately after that he starts to run. The scene was so imprinted on my mind that I decided to write my first Haiku on it.

Thanks a lot Audrey. Your comment is as chaste as the background setting of my Haiku.

Wow, collectively writing Haikus with a friend does sound fun. Thanks for stopping by, Charles.

I noticed you stringing together multiple haiku, which I and a friend used to do individually and collaboratively on another writing site. I've always thought it a great idea.

      Another excellent haiku!

A mother's pride and love is not confined to the human alone. I love this Haiku tribute to newborn life. It is just lovely.
