The Nature Of A Mother's Love

Updated on November 7, 2011
Source

A mother's love outreaches
the boundaries of constraint,
beyond the gates of reason,
truth or time without restraint.
Defying understanding,
a mother's love withstands
the buffeting of judgement,
and response the world demands.
Her devotion never wavers,
regardless of the price...
embracing hope and vision
in the face of sacrifice.
A mother's love has knowledge
beyond that of the eye,
she sees into her heart of hearts
where potential is not shy,
seeing only the fruition of
what Destiny intends,
yielding not her vision
until reality transcends.

WillStarr, You have made my day...you can't know how much that means to me! Thank you!

A mother would give her last breath to her child. We are her joy but most of the time we only bring her heartaches. When we realize the pain we cause it's sometimes too late to say "sorry". Take every opportunity to say to her "mother,I love you."

tnderhrt, this is a beautiful narrative poem and a worthy tribute to motherhood. We who can see our mothers in these verses are abundantly blessed. We know from experience what your poem so poignantly sings; a mother's love is longsuffering, without qualification, selfless, eternally hopeful, everlasting. This reader votes beautiful and thumbs up!! Regards, Robert

My wife spends every waking hour proving your point and i suspect that you do the same. A father's love is strong too, but usually has fewer tentacles.

attemptedhumour, I am sure what you say is true, although it lies outside the realm of my own, personal experience. I am unsure about the tentacle issue, however...I may need to look into that one! Thank you for your read and comment!

I'm just discovering this one, but I think I just fell in love with your words! A mother's love is unconditional and she sometimes will sacrifice more than her children will ever know.
