The Nights Speak

Updated on November 10, 2011

There must be a place
where the essence of
dissimilar concepts
may reside in harmony
under one common light

Surely, there is a place
where the jagged pieces
are melted down once more
into their original form
to create a new mirror

A double-sided mirror;
a bidirectional gateway
from you, to me,
from them, to they,
from us, to Him

My reflection has shattered
far too many times
for the pieces to be remade
into a whole, without
the guidance of alchemy

to turn black into gold,
molding raw into fine,
designing new life

~~~~~
Seeing through the static
gazing through the fire
to separate the healer
from the destroyer
Crumbling all around
the illusions we built
the facades we trust
unveiling creation
Creation supersedes
casting aside claustrophobia
extinguishing doubt
determining lost and found
If only we all could save ourselves...
~~~~~

A rose wilted tonight,

and far too soon,

after blooming,

it suffocated and died

on the surface of the moon

The stars exchanged rumors,

while the Earth remained silent,

in arrogance, secluded

from the heavens that surround it

I sustain life,

in my gardens of rose

Come, and abide,

in my white light, and grow

~~~~~
Mystery, curiosity,
vastness, to explore
Touch, be touched,
feel, be felt
Give, take,
but never take too much
Live, breathe, little gifts
from the atmosphere
Lie, deceive,
but only if you dare
to reap, to receive
the natural consequence
~~~~~

One by one

they fell from my wanting gaze

I watched them fade

One for all, and all for one

a chance to find

an end to endless time

God only knows the power of her vice,

or the way she stopped me short

of even one more breath I was dying to take

Our first hello and last goodbye

became trapped in a single moment

that no amount of time could ever revive

even if eternity looped forever

      you have a way of creating normal thought into something that grows with each coming word. i can always tell that your thoughts are ones that fester, ones that are rooted deep within your soul and you take that thought and turn it into a bud that blooms into a readers understanding. its simple, which makes it all the more complex. your too deep to be simple. and yet too easily explained to be misinterpreted.

      such a little prodigy.

      Nellie - Your observations are very appreciated and accurate. I wrote these a few nights ago, while I was feeling extremely depressed, almost suicidal. For the first time...instead of negative/dark things coming out during that state of mind, these did. I was surprised how light they were. Thank you for your visit/comment, means a lot to me always :}

      Ben, Ben! Each of these somehow complements and assists the others. I can't say which is best - they all are. I love the message of the first one, exhorting differences to learn to blend or at least to mutually abide together, - to coexist. Without that happening, the future looks grim. And you've expressed it so effectively, noting that success in it is the design for new life to emerge. The second is wistful and poignant but expressed that same need in a different way. Then the wilted rose seems to rise above it - perhaps from the ashes of failure to heed the first exhortations, it must rise to the challenge - or perish?

      The next one is so personal. I love these lines:

      "Give, take,

      but never take too much

      . . . . Lie, deceive,

      but only if you dare

      to reap, to receive

      the natural consequence"

      Yegads - it's an entire manifesto for personal behavior. It's sufficient to ponder for quite awhile.

      Excellent. That is how I'd rate it.

      Astoundingly beautiful. It's hard to find words that describe the momentous fluidity of your art of writing. A river of emotions that connect deep and resonate in ones soul. The harmony and rhythm continue to beat. I am so grateful to have stumbled upon your writing. Voted up and Awesome!

      nikki - thank you very much, I like that verse very much myself

      Ian - oh I have been hearing how I'm a sage and an old soul for a while, and I take it as a compliment. Thank you so much for your choice of words in that comment, and if I recall, you have written some utterly mind-blowing poetry in my opinion. I just haven't been reading enough...sigh..

      Ben, I am astounded by your poetry. I find it very difficult to imagine that you are still a young man... hardly a boy, and yet your poetry has such depth and beauty and your choice of words is stunning.

      I don't go with that "old souls" crap, but if I did, I would tend think that you have been around for a hell of a long time, my friend.

      Stunning. I am very, very impressed.

      Well done Ben! There are those that think and those that write. There are a few who think and then write and they give birth to thinking in others. Therein, lies the gift!

      Kali and Shiva are what comes to mind for me when I read this. The duality essential to life is evident in each piece and leaves me wondering what will next rise from the ashes. Nicely done, Ben.

      God... I am so glad you told me about this one Ben! This one is something special. Your fluidity, the harmony, the emotions blended within the words.

      The music accompanied with the words gave me goosebumps. How you switch back and forth between your primal thought and then the universe. How you blend nature within your essence. This s truly a remarkable piece Ben. Though it is hard to pick a favourite still, my favourite is:

      Saddle - I am really happy for that comment, and thank you for sharing this on Facebook. I find it crazy how I write these things without really THINKING at all. It's more of a natural feeling than anything.

      Cardisa - that's true, I do seem to hint at a higher power in just about everything I write. It's like something is injected into me. Thank you for always being there to support me :]

      I agree with Saddlerider, every word of what he said. I too am transported when I read your words. Another thibg I love about your poetry is that they are never shallow, always something to think about. There is always a higher power encased in your writing and I love that.

      You are a deep thinker, a man who seeks knowledge of what's behind the galaxy, it's stars it's planets. Your creative mind digs deep into it's mysteries, it comes out often in your scribes here. Finding the answers to so many unknowns seems to be your quest.

      The Starman you are my friend. Interesting scribe, I always feel uplifted and taken to another place when you write. Well done my young friend, I will share this with many. Rated Up and awesome like so many of your scribes.
