The Non-Workings Man's Blue

Updated on November 19, 2014
Just thought the picture fit the mood of the poem
Just thought the picture fit the mood of the poem

Yes I Do

I'd rather be working
Then sitting around here
But I can't you see
All the jobs have disappeared

The jobs are all gone
They went overseas
There are no jobs left
In the Land of the Free

Still I send out a resume
I fill out an app
But don't hear
I don't a word back

I've got the non-working man;s blues
Yes I do, Yes I do
I've got the non-working man's blues
Yes it's true, yes it's true
I can seem to find a cure for
The non-working man's blues

The man on the news says
Unemployment's on the decline
That soon, so soon
Everything will be just fine
But I'm getting tired of
Of the same old line, all the time

How about you

Thanks so much for your wonderful comments. Growing up I loved and still love the blues. As oyu say I write to get the feeling out. Thanks again for reading my words.

....but then again your blues are lyrical and you are a natural songwriting poet - and I love the blues as a musical genre and this is very well done - all you need is a harp (harmonica) and John Lee Hooker to sing these words for you and you have a million dollar seller on your hands (kind of ironic isn't it - making money from not being able to make money - that's why write - in order to get these feelings out of our system ) - sending you warm wishes and good energy from lake erie time ontario canada 9:38pm

I am so sorry you've got the blues. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Very nice! It is said that being bored is the mother of creation.
