The Old Man In A Dark Suit

Updated on June 25, 2014

The young girl sat mute,

staring, glaring,

at the old man in a dark suit,

and that old man sat collected,

his hands folded on the table,

she was there, but he was still alone,

his face was so gaunt,

it could haunt,

and the veins on his temples

showed as if carved out of stone,

and what protruded through his skin was bone,

he was living,

but he had no life in his eyes,

she moved her head away from him

towards the windows, towards the skies,

and she wanted to run for the door,

but he rose to pace the floor,

at that moment fear would coat,

and her screams died in her throat,

her emotions were trapped,

like an animal in a cage,

he stared at her,

and his face had that long

drawn expression of both sadness and outrage,

there was despair, and that was clear,

as the young girl’s moist face

contorted with fear,

the old man’s soul manifesting

only the barest trace

of compassion,

her fear tumbles and flips,

and a small dry cry

finally escaped the young girl’s lips.

You are delivering messages that are sticking to the very core. Reminding me of Da. and you will say that's where you met me. That's where you are going to show that part two.

It's your worlds, I am only passing through.

      Bless brethren.

Frank ~ Quite frightening for if this were true. Your poems fit the genre of the 'horror' category, where I usually do not tread. I like to stay on the bright side. Life hands us enough challenges. Blessings, Debby

That's the effect they have on you , drawing you in with every line , have ing your eyes transfixed in a glaze as they protrude with fear and eagerness, making the sockets hurt in with fear and expectation of the next and then he takes it away ,reminding you , that it's a poem and not a book and that you must wait for tomorrow , but rest assured tomorrow will come, it's not a promise in vain , as he remains the same , every time , a man to his word, and you will feel that fear again and again . It's the great poetic work of Mr. Frank Antanacio .

Hold that strain he will come again to haunt and impress your mind with his trade . My brethren Frank.

      Great work.

      Bless.

What a feeling of helplessness, of being trapped by something abhorrent and menacing. Human beings can read emotions and intentions very well on faces and I don't envy the young girl at all, not at all. Chilling one Frank!
