The Other Side Of Life

Updated on December 11, 2011

Liquid fire eyes
burning through the chest
they're gazing through the soul
piercing questions, they ask
requesting you become
petrified timelessly
within statues of gold

A projection of alchemy
A blinding monument
representing a former life
recollecting bright mornings
reminiscence of sunlight
nostalgic embrace
envelopes your face

clarity attained
in the arms of a lover
transparent
ethereal

The struggles of mankind
the perils of a broken home
desecrated innocence
lost in a sea of possibility
sailing waves of dissonance
under the watchful eye of Kharon
the ship keep, the ferryman

to guide your eyes
toward such shores to behold
as the ones you now see
awaken on the other side
in your true soul's form

A shadow walks the platform
above a sea of white
walks the plank,
so to speak
praying hard, the night
his soul to surely keep
The shadow cannot swim
the light will swallow him

The water opens up
a mouth with screaming teeth
a gateway to an end
a gleaming door to blindness
the fearless fear again

The ocean whispers death

the darkness takes its last

Thoughtful poetry, mesmerizingly deep. I lost myself within, fascinating.

Ben, your brilliance and vision ever, as always, amaze me. But I'm torn between that recognition and how tortured it makes it seem for you, and wondering how else you could possibly write it if you don't somehow experience it. Are you ok? Hugs.

Great poem. Your word choice is literally visually stunning. And I mean stunning, I don't use that word often.
