"The Path" by Eric Wayne Flynn

"The Path"

I've walked these woods before

I can tell you all about the path

Winding, with twists and turns

Plot lines and pitfalls

There is a river running parallel to us

We could swim if we had time, but let's hurry

Just up over this hill, there is another hill, then the horizon

If we keep walking here on the path

We will reach our destination

The end

Closure to the story

Listen to me, I know where I'm going

I know where you're going

I know where it's headed

I know what it is to seek

I know what it is to find

Trust me to lead

So you won't have to search for yourself

I can guide you on this walk through the woods

I can be your eyes

I can be your soul

I can tell you stories along the way to pacify your angst

Ideas and thoughts I've had in the woods, processions of the day

Warnings

Cautions

Go this way, go that way

Pick up your feet

Are you listening?

Can you hear me?

What is it you're looking at?

Pay no attention to that

That's just a flower

That's just a bird

C'mon the end awaits

The finish line

What is it you're looking at?

C'mon we must move, time is of the essence and I can cut to the chase

He then spoke to me

On the path, he said

"These woods may be the very same woods you have walked, yes, you may have walked them many a time more than I, on many different occasions, but I too have legs, I too have eyes and what you know to be there waiting for us at the end...can wait"

He summoned me over

Pointing out a few things to me

A rock, a cloud, a stick, a world, a key

He started up on the path again

I know where he is headed

Maybe it'd be better if I didn't

Tis no matter now

We are all headed there anyway

As for right now

I see something

In the woods, on this path

Everything that blinded me before

Washing over me

The rise, the fall, the action, the denouement

The details

The end

The interpretation

The path; redefined through space, through time, through experience

The illusion of choice

The alternating idea of one thing better than the other

I now see the path for what it is

A means to an end

Thanks for sharing this inner journey Eric. The path we take is often the means to an end. I voted for you as "best poet" in the hubby awards by the way.

Reading this hub can be compared to opening up a personal journal or diary and sharing one's inner insights with the public. Great reading and keep up the good work.
