The Pigeon Lady

Updated on July 20, 2012

Dress in orange and white linen
Walking among the pigeons.
Near the corner
of fifth Ave.
and the lion library.

The pigeon lady stood
in her usual place.
Drawing symbols
on pieces of paper.
Moving this way
and that way.

Placing her papers
in various locations.
As if
she is setting
a landing pad.

Oblivious,
to the rest of humanity.
She continues to work.
Drawing and placing paper.
Stopping occasionally
to reconfirm
her placements.

Prehaps
she is saving us all
from unseen tragedy.
