The Point of Change

By Tony DeLorger © 2013

If only one could attribute that moment of epiphany,

to any conscious decision or choice,

instead, the cool stream of life carries us,

like a pebble tossed in a single direction.

We may forge a path, decide on an outcome,

but it is life that delivers us, mysteriously and without certainty,

to our destinations; just or unjust, wanted or disapproved,

and in that state of change do we find the opportunity to grow.

Points of change grow in intensity,

gathering details of the periphery, dragging up the unresolved,

and in timely order all aspects that in truth need to evolve,

until in but a moment, past reality falls away.

The pain can often be intense, unsettling and fearsome,

yet our resistance is more often the catalyst,

the necessity often blurred through fear and panic,

we, feeling so small within this turbulence.

Only in consciousness can we avoid pain and flow with life's movement,

finding solace in faith that life itself, intrinsically understands,

and our plight, no matter how perceived, is appropriate,

and we, regardless, will find a fitting end.

Change is inevitable because life is progressive,

and we, in vain attempts to remain static,

find pain in such a natural progression,

and therefore do ourselves an injustice.
