The Pounding Rain

Updated on August 16, 2016

I Hear It Tip Toeing Across The Windows

We haven't had any rain for two weeks

While the rest of the country is getting too much rain

I feel bad for Lousianna

They got 23 inches of rain in a 24 hours

Bad floods and lots of destruction

Nature can be fierce

Our garden needs the sun and the rain

With the right combination the tomatoes do fine

I got a quick shower getting the mail

It was fun watching the water running down the street

The weather is cooling down

We can shut off the air conditioners

Opening all the windows

Enjoying that lovely fresh air

A small bird went to the bird feeder

For a late night snack

Then a quickly flying humming bird

Looking in just before dark

Gypsy Rose Lee Speaking of rain, it's raining right as I speak. I know what you mean about the days getting darker and our bodies getting sluggish. I love to nap. Rain gives me a reason. Thanks for reading and sharing your story.

We have had practically no summer this year. We have had more rain than we have ever had before during the summer but amazingly enough even though some fields may flood and the street looked like a giant lake luckily no floods. We are due much more rain in September and then I usually hibernate by my PC because it gives me the blues when the days are dark and gray and rainy and the nights start to come much too quickly.

Michael-Milec So many plants and animals depend on the weather. We also forget how important it is to everyone in the world. Even though we are so technologically advanced nature rules. Thank you for reading and caring.

A ditto to your experience...Several nights ago I was waiting past midnight to meet "pounding rain'' such a rare occurrence past few weeks. Finally, it came and repeatedly came back , catching up with spreading green color over the dry brown painted grass. Quite strange Summer's weather around, in our part of the Land, similar to your poetic narration.

Shanmarie I would rather be cold than hot any day. You can always throw on a warm blanket and snuggle when your cold. When you are hot you pull away and have to turn up the air conditioners on high or go swimming to cool off. Then minutes later your hot again if you step out in the heat. If you bundle up warm you can still feel the cold outside but feel great underneath. Have a good night. Thank you so much for reading and sharing.

It's been a little dreary here the past couple of days. Today I think it's just been overcast. I haven't noticed any rain anyhow. Don't know if it rained elsewhere around here. I was just telling someone that after the triple digit temperatures, I'm cold! It's in the 60s here in my home when the AC is on because of the cooler temps outside and I feel chilled. I guess I've been in TX too long. Hahaha. Time to head to the equator. :)
