The Power Ball Millions

Updated on March 8, 2014

Gambling would give him a fit,

The Power Ball Millions, (c)

he almost walked right by it,

he took his place in line,

hell, the gambling counselor wouldn’t mind,

it he’d win, he’d know exactly what to do,

he might give his counselor a million or two,

it was his counselor who stood by him,

while his family turned their backs,

those were the simple facts,

his thoughts scuffled,

as the lottery line slowly shuffled,

his eyes would beam,

as the millions streamed,

and he would slowly dream,

the money would take him away

from all the stares,

all the glares,

the whispers, and the looks,

the truths, which were hidden in lies,

and all those accusing eyes,

and the eyes bent on contempt,

that was directed toward him,

they told him gambling was a sin,

but he knew he was no sinner,

and as a big winner,

he would walk into his boss’s office,

making sure he’s heard,

throwing his resignation letter on his desk,

without a word,

turn and walk out the door,

and his co-workers’ chins would all hit the floor,

it was every man’s fantasy,

so why not his?

All the thoughts of winning big would grow,

as the lottery line moved slow,

and it was twenty minutes before

he got to play his numbers,

it took awhile,

and the girl at the counter would smile,

and she would softly say,

good luck, and have a nice day,

as the greed in his mind would shout,

yes, Mr. Lottery Director,

I’ll take the full cash payout,

you see,

there will be no installments for me.

I love when you comment on old works that I would never normally have found and it actually comes up on my feed. I get to see something I would not have seen. I never got into the Lotto thing but understand the mentality.

Come visit me soon. There are 2 in particular that I want you to feel (read).

"It was his counselor who stood by him, while his family turned their backs. A million or two, you figure after everything he's done, it's the least he can do right? I visualized every little detail. you have a good sense of imagination. Winning the Florida lottery is my fantasy too, but you have to trick your subconscious by visualizing the final outcome, which is that you will win it by such a date. Your subconscious believes anything that you tell it so there's one particular comment here where the person dreams of winning, but has already decided the odds are slim. Anything is possible if you believe. voted up!

This is GRADE "A" Frank. Really good.

I almost never gamble because of fear of getting hooked. It's pretty easy to stay away from lotteries and casinos. But, two or three times a year I make a pilgrimage to a dog track because watching the greyhound races is good fun. I only bet two bucks a shot and quit if the losses exceed $30.00

Great poem. I can relate. I have been trying for years. Probably a pipe dream, but why not be a dreamer?

Not as dark as much of your work. I dream of winning the lottery but I don't ever expect to.
