The Problem With Running

Updated on March 16, 2011

A friend I met

trying to decide

to leave or stay

a path without guide

escaping life created

not by others

self berated

yet fixing nothing

not within or without

not changing jot or tittle

and wondering at a new view

forgetting nothing changed before

people are like that you know

wanting things

not answering for the cost

then in insanity

trying again

the same way

the same path

chasing their own tale

wholly unsatisfied

condemned from within

I feel like this is related to your comment, and I'm really not sure how to take it.

Very glum. I feel that this would be great to hear recited live.

lol there are a lot of my works that I would read that way but where I am at I am not sure there is a suitable venue.

Believe it or not Ben, your poem reminded me of another lost soul with a totally different outlook on life. I decided to generalize this piece for effect, where you are at least analyzing the pieces this person just runs and shuns reason.

Ok, well I would hate for you to feel that way about me, by reading a few of my poems...that would be sad

      hmmm ok..

ben I don't know you well enough, I would like to though. It is odd, but many of the things I have ruminated over here on my site seem to connect with many of your observations. The person was someone I am personally acquainted with but the syndrome is more common then that. If you find yourself in the lines as well I am sorry but it was unintended. No one is in that frame of mind permanently without choosing to be so.

You always have a message in your poetry and write with so much feeling. Great work.

I try, expression to me in any form seems pointless without a point being made. It is always nice to have such as yourself to share my observations with all the same.
