From across a room

People stare

Passing judgement

Unaware

She does not smile

Nor does she talk

Her eyes are haunted

It's in her walk

Fair to look upon

Though cold as ice

Unbending presence

Her stare does slice

It makes them wonder

Why so cool

Of course she thinks

She's better than you

Though they ponder

With heated stare

They do not know

What's hiding there

Pain, and sorrow

Utterly alone

Misunderstood

They cast their stone

Whether she's guilty

They do not care

She is different

It is only fair

Thus they ostracize

And do pick apart

The Queen of Ice

That bleeding-heart

Personal Note

It's a dog eat dog world out there.

Sometimes we human beings tend to speculate rather than investigate things we don't understand. Especially with other people, we can assume way too much about another individual without actually knowing that person's circumstance, or even really knowing them.

In this selfish day and age, as people, we have become self-important, less social and more stand-offish due to an adverse change in a society where everyone is suspect. You can not trust a stranger, nor can you trust a neighbor, or even sometimes, a friend.

We must reach out, give of ourselves, and try to understand our differences. We must not assume that another person is more or less than ourselves. Shutting down judgement, we must learn to accept, understand, and relate in a way that betters our own spiritual essence.

Beautiful poem, Ziyena. We are too quick to judge, no matter how hard we try not to. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise, but sometimes I find myself falling into the judgement trap. Thanx for the reminder to work on that!

Beautiful poem. Isn't it sad how people unfairly judge others just by their differences? Voted it up and beautiful. : )

I just love that first picture to begin your hub. Great poem that really illustrates what it's like to be around a cold- hearted person. I agree with Billy that we all find ourselves judging other's at some time in our life, but it's not cool at all. Nicely done ziyena :-)

    Ziyena,

Wow, I have to say, for reading your first piece of poetry... I am so very impressed! I love this; I think I can relate to both the judger and the judged. One, is a hard place to be and the other is just ugly, but both, are equally sad.

Ziyena.. beautiful poetry ... then great pictures to enhance the words.. nice work.. ZZZ,

Perception is reality sometimes , although we are guilty of it we hardly notice that we do it, until we find the true person.. is someone completely different.

Stunningly profound write here! Really love this one . . . yes, how can we even assume one tiny bit about another, when we do not even know that person, just from their looks! Haunting and powerful. Amazing imagery too.

    Voted up ++++ and sharing

This is very nice! I love reading work that has substance! I'm usually not cool as ice when being judged prematurely but as I get older maybe one day I can be The King of Ice with higher self esteem!

Yes, we must all give people a chance. How can you know a heart by first impression, and a hollow mirrored look? Thank you Billy

The second picture was perfect. Judgments....sadly we all do it, don't we? We may not want to admit it but we do. It is something I work on constantly. My first impressions of someone are usually in need of adjustments.

    Beautifully written my friend.
