The Right Measure

Updated on August 7, 2012

Have you ever been close
But couldn’t touch what you wanted?
Have you ever been so far
That you couldn’t see what you needed?
You can’t seem to get the measure of life
It’s either too much
Or not enough

You realize that you never know the time
For being where it’s at
It’s never quite the right moment
To make your move
It’s either to hard
Or too easy

You can’t decide while you watch
Every wheel that turns
The direction is not right
And neither is the pace
It’s either too fast
Or too slow

Would you rather stitch with moss
And bury yourself deep in the city
Where the aimless are able to smile?
Would you rather ignore the cross
And bury yourself deep in pity
Where the rock is lost in the pile?

You look for another moment
And say this time I will
But you don’t know how to act
Nor do you know how to love
It’s either too deep
Or too shallow

Have you ever been so near
That you pushed someone away?
Have you ever been so distant
That you hoped they would call?
It’s either to close
Or too far

Would you rather stitch with moss
And bury yourself deep in the city
Where the aimless are able to smile?
Would you rather ignore the cross
And bury yourself deep in pity
Where the rock is lost in the pile?

@christin - Thank you for your nice comment. Yeah facing things is tough and maybe that's why we can't move forward.

@the girls - Crossroads are tough; we want so much to have direction but it's so hard to know what to do. Thank you.

@raciniwa - Thank you again and you are so sweet to me.... I'd like to meet you some day...

Nice poem. I think everybody faces a major crossroad in life. The uncertainty and unknown future will always be. Stay strong and awesome :-)

A very interesting poem and I think I know what you mean about it not being quite the right moment. For me it usually means not facing up to problems because it doesn't feel like the right moment.
