Discovery Within Stillness

Updated on December 31, 2011

Another wasted breath
into frozen air, a cloud
leaves my lips and floats
and falls on running water
simply lacking in
motive of benefit to listen
to that which yields
such tremendous say
in everything I am

If void is what you truly seek
then come fill yourself with emptiness
come light your way with darkness
I sit here, injecting myself with cures
so they tell me I'll be healed tonight
in wasted states, in places I've been
a thousand times too many
yet still I dream of them again
self-fulfilled within these
prophetic fears, so sentimental

You are the eye of my storm
the moment of stillness
between the waves
the soft, quiet mist
instead of the rain
the cooling effect
in place of the pain
For years, I sought shelter
buried in a hurricane
underground, starving
and there, did I wait
and then, silence
within the night, came
to give rest to the storm
in the eye, in this place

This water streams and rushes with such intensity

toward something I cannot wait to see

I follow the river toward the light,

and toward the sounds of others waiting there

Waiting for me to welcome me home

as we drink without limits, the water of life

What a design, what a sight,

after this extended journey to reveal them

These aspirations I was given,

granted me a chance to dream

and in those dreams I flew and knew

of things I could never discover on my own

and witnessed past beginnings

I witnessed them before they began

and finally returned to this place of rest

with the sound of water running

softly through my conscience

Awesome, so express and beautiful, you skillfully froze and then gradually thawed my hands and nose with this beautiful poem, amazing!

      Hi Ben,

It starts with a frozen breath, then emptiness then contentment. What a transition. This is an awesome way to usher in the new year.

      Happy New Year!

You have such a way with words. May your words lead you to a path where the sunshine appears in the midst of the storms and your cloud's echoes are heard and a response of living waters to refresh the soul rain down softly and a pool of blessings replaces holes of dirt and earth and all shall be right.
