"The Room of a Billion Eyes" by Eric Wayne Flynn

"The Room of a Billion Eyes"

Avery

Stepping out of the sea and on to the sand

Evolving from the ooze and in to the Everyman

Naturally stumbling around and asking why

We are granted the gift and the curse that is existence

Questioning what it is to question

Think about that

Think about this

Scratching his head and his nuts

Time to act civilized

Get up, get dressed, get out, get in line, get going, get down

To the level

Stoop

Compete in the dark in the room with a billion eyes

Watching

Blinking

Buying

What they see

Ourselves; fighting in the room

They want to see blood

The room now an arena

A billion eyes have multiplied

Staring as Avery enters

Freshly fatigued from his journey, but wise to the ways of the eyes

Along his journey, Avery had found a disguise

Cloaked in truth, a hood with no halo

Ready for the contest

Avery is pitted against himself

They want to see him tear himself apart

Rip your flesh off!

Cut through your bones!

Cut off your dick!

You ugly faggot!

Kill yourself!

The arena of eyes; pleading windows with no souls

8 billion bodies buried in the walls

Frozen

16 billion eyes blurred

Trying to focus

Avery has made them see double with his quick thinking

Which one is witch?

One a warlock, one a figment of your imagination

A tag team

A fantastic idea with no filter

Dancing, dodging daggers

Catching a few in the side

An arsenal; bled for

Equipped with wit

He tripped! So to catch the eyes off guard

Losing sight of him

Avery performs his vision

The one he has played out in his mind

Slashing and stabbing the eyes

Blind

Blind

Blind

Squish, squish, squash

Feeling the way out of the mess

Avery exits the room of a billion eyes

Looking

Forward

Seeing

Hope on the horizon

An old friend he had lost sight of
