The Roots of the Mighty Oak Tree ( a lyrical poem of inspiration)

Updated on July 24, 2016

The people of this nation, from the eastern to our western shore,

Help make this land a better place, as each one has gone before.

As American citizens, are true patriots, our allegiance then to state.

Coming from every country around this world, contributions great,

Refrain:

As a mighty oak tree, standing so tall, our powerful roots uphold this land,

The native born and immigrants, of greatest strength, walking hand in hand,

We'll fight for our cherished freedoms, defending this country, its democracy,

Insure rights, state's sovereignty, those of our country, and across the sea.

Our people here are of many colors, grandest cultures for all to see,

Each religion here to be respected, all in kind, their precious sanctity,

Every person gives of themselves, all help to keep our nation strong,

Our government's constitution, bill of rights, assures that all belong.

Refrain:

As a mighty oak tree, standing so tall, our powerful roots uphold this land,

Native born and immigrants, of greatest strength, all walking hand in hand.

We'll fight for our cherished freedoms, defend this country, its democracy,

Insure rights, state's sovereignty, those of our country and across the sea.

America, the great and mighty nation, its proud people, all to know,

All raising our voices in unison, our patriotism, in its song to show.

Like a wonderful tree, its branches to spread, as of every fine family,

Represents the ties we do have that bind, as we all live in harmony.

Refrain:

As a mighty oak tree, standing so tall, our powerful roots uphold this land,

Native born and immigrants, of greatest strength, all walking hand in hand.

We'll fight for our cherished freedoms, defend this country, its democracy,

Insure state's rights, sovereignty, those of our country, and across the sea.

As Americans we have a responsibility, to show the world of what we're made,

When we're knocked down, we get back up, face the music, not to be afraid.

We will lead the people of every country, show our best, that defines humanity,

Be all that we can be, in this land of freedom, stand tall, like the mighty oak tree.

I love the comparison to the mighty oak. It spreads it roots and canopy to protect and provide comfort. Home to many species.

      Beautiful!
