Imagine having your life already planned out. You knew who you were going to marry and the scarifies you were going to have to make... and just like that it all disappears and you are whisked away into a glamorous life that you never dreamed or wished for. Well this is what happens to America Singer in the Selection by Kiera Cass.

The Selection Hardcover

What Happens?

From the very first page you will be swept into a life of struggle, barely making ends meet. When the choice between food and heat presents itself your family bundles up to have a pathetic meal that leaves you wanting more.

Love and Happiness

America's happiness is her love, Aspen Ledger. Unfortunately they have to hide it from the world because they belong to two different castes and if found out they could loose each other forever. Suddenly pride ends her dreams when Aspen realizes the life he wants to provide, the life she deserves, is one he could never give. He ends the relationship and America have been selected to try to win the heart of the crowned prince, Prince Maxon. Heartbroken, she sees this as a blessing in disguise. Her family will be receiving money for being in the competition and she will be putting distance between her and Aspen. Its a fresh start, although she knows she knows she will never love another, she is able to find friendships that were missing in her life. Little does she know one of these friends, Maxon, will evolve into something more. Slowly and confused, America feels pieces of her heart being mended together, when all of a sudden her world is turned upside down.

The Selection Paperback

I recommend this book for any true romantic who wants to escape reality. You will fall in love along with America and you share her heartbreak when it happens. It is an easy and quick read so anyone from as young as thirteen to as old as one hundred will enjoy this book. It is the first book in the trilogy and you will want to continue with the rest of the series. All three books have already been published so there is no waiting (The Selection, The Elite, and The One) and there are two novellas (The Prince and The Guard) with one novella currently being written (The Queen, not release date yet).
