The Shortest (And BEST!) Poem in the World

Updated on December 12, 2010

 no fear

no envy

no meanness

Source

What this poem means to me:

no fear:

NO FEAR: don't be afraid of people stronger than you, richer than you, or younger than you.

no envy:

don't envy people richer than you: fortunes change. Stronger than you: if your intentions are honourable, you cannot be harmed in the long run...younger than you: we all age as we go along, until we die.

no meanness: really, reallly, be kind. It costs you NOTHIING!

So much meaning in a short poem. Poignant and so true.

I kind of should hate you, for reading this. Certainly all of my hubs are longer than this one, but Whether you could call this a poem, or not. It is excellent, and you only need to look at all the other comments before this one. My opinion - its short but sweet, and exactly what this website is for. To express your own personal ideas, and beliefs.

I love Bob Dylan. his music and the way he tried to live his life. Great hub here. I am so impressed with your work! Be blessed. :-)

Great Hub....'specially the 'no fear' part (of the poem).

Someone said, 'fear is the only enemy' and I can clearly see (within myself) that at the root of all limitations and frustrations I encounter in day-to-day life, lies fear.

Thanks, ahorseback, for the lovely comment. Yes, Bob is big on my list, too!

Kindness and love is the simplest act in the world , no ? I loved Dylan way back when , and yet , the simplicity of this poem is lost on so many. Bob's voice is aging well! Be well!

......yes the title serves up the hype and then backs it up too - and you even 'got' Bob as a side attraction.

Dosen't get much sweeter than that!

I remember hearing those words, but it definitely helps to be reminded again. Very useful and thoughtful hub -- short as the poem may be.

Hi Paradise7 - Not to take anything away from the words of that "shortest" poem, but they remind one of the ten commandments and of the "Golden Rule." It is nice to be reminded now and then.

I seemed to have lost the original comments. Thank you all for your comments, and Mike, for your welcome back!! It's good to be back, even if brief.
