The Silence Echoes

Updated on December 10, 2016
Faith Reaper profile image

When Theresa writes poetry, the inspiration comes from her or her family's true life experiences, which results in dramatic poetry.

It's during those times when we are feeling blue and shattered for all of humanity, He shows up, and our light still radiates His love even more so than ever before, to His glory and His alone.

The Light Is Sweet

"Light is sweet, and pleases the eyes to see the sun. However many years a man may live, let him enjoy them all. But let him remember the days of darkness, for they will be many." Ecclesiastes 11:7-8

Shattered and Blue, but He Is Still the Light of My Life

Silence echoes

Throughout the land

As deaf ears fall

And eyes veiled

For wrongs committed prevail

Such unrelenting pain

As darkness attempts to regain its authority

Still there is that glimmer of brilliant light

That washes over

Radiating His love

Reminding of His promise that whatever

Is done under that cover of darkness

He will bring into the light

So all my days I claim His promise

As He is most faithful

But what can one person do

With so much overwhelming hypocrisy

Yet, He reminds on this day

He is still in control

A common destiny for all

And so I can pray

Laying it all down at His feet

To begin anew

Is really all one can do

While the presence of such atrocities against humanity

Accustom to surface

Until that final day

When that glorious trumpet blows

And then we can rest in Him

Knowing tears will never flow again

As an ebb of a river while

The silence echoes

Nevermore.

Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... We need silence to be able to touch souls.

Thank you, Darlin', for sending lots of love my way. Hahaha, so clever about one turkey "roasting" another. Oh, yes, Saturday we have our big college football rivalry between Alabama and Auburn in the Iron Bowl. Roll Tide Roll! Bless you and remember to count your blessings. I count you as one of mine.

      Hi Dear Audrey,

I am so blessed once again by your lovely visit. Oh, yes, our quiet time with the Lord is amazing with many rewards!

The first video I had here when I first published truly almost left one speechless, but sadly it is no longer available on YouTube for some reason. So I had to change it out a couple of times.

I have always loved Simon and Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence" too.

Hugs and Blessings always, sweet lady

Hi Faith - I just had to come back to read your incredible poem and to listen to "The Sound of Silence." I love Mother Theresa's quote. I've learned the value of silence in many ways. The most important of course is during prayer.

Thank you dear lady for your continuing inspiration.

      Hi Missy,

I do so love my quiet time, especially with the Lord, for He reveals so much to me and His peace just rains down on me. He is sweet like that, you know.

Back when I first published this hub two years ago (wow ...that went quick), I found an amazing video of The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel ...such dramatic imagery, then it was taken down and I have never been able to find it again. So, I had to find a substitute, but glad you like it too.

It has always been one of my favorite songs too.

Thank you so much for the vote up.

Peace and blessings always to you and yours

Beautiful poem Faith! I loved it. I know, I for one, have to find my silence and visit with my peace often. I feel sorry for others who have not learned how to seek and find him within themselves. I can hear him speak to me so clearly when I take the time to really talk to him heart to heart.

I love that cover of Simon and Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence." I've never heard that one, it's beautiful. I'm a Simon and Garfunkel fan. I actually have their greatest hits in my car right now, so I can listen to it as I'm driving around this little country town of mine. That song is one of my favorites.

Mother Theresa was such a wise and faithful woman. I love her quotes. They make you feel comfort just reading them.

Oh, precious heart, I am so sorry about your pain. I will certainly lift you up in prayer. His love and peace passes all understanding. I am glad you found this poem beautiful. We know that one day there will be no more tears, pain and suffering as He promises and I cling to those promises.

Sending you (((Hugs))) and much love, dear lovely woman

      Hi Manatita,

You are most generous and I am humbled for such lovely comments here, especially coming from you, a true poet. Yes, I love that first video too with the pan flute. I had to change out the last video from my initial choice as it went away. I truly loved my first choice as it was so dramatic and perfect visually for this poem but, oh well.

      Yes, He is the light.

      Theresa,

An awesome Hub filled with sublime beauty; well chosen video.

You know, I look at your mom from time to time. So elegant, so strong ... and I look at your writing. The strength is there, plus a sweet simplicity that can only come from the Divine.

Your heart beats and feels like mines. Alas! without the shadows there will be no perception of Light, A Light which gratefully shines in the darkness, even when the blackness is dense. In Love and Light.

      Hi Dear Shan,

Yes, it is hard to see it all ... the evil abounding all around. That is all I know to do is to lay it all at the foot of the cross, for we know how it ends. He is victorious against evil. Praise Him!

Powerful message here Faith, such a promise shall come to pass in due time, I sense that this message is about Christ, and I believe in his purpose on this planet.

I hope he returns to change this planetary surface back into what it was initially meant to be, and for us all to live the way we were meant to live. Until such a time, I myself will continue this spiritual battle against the evils that do indeed exist. Thanks you for sharing this and yup its getting pinned too, and shared elsewhere.

      Thanks. I like this:

      When that glorious trumpet blows

And then we can rest in Him

Knowing tears will never flow again

      Hi Sparkea,

Thank you so much for the vote up and the lovely comments dear one. I am so glad this was a blessing to you right at the moment you needed it to be such!

I love the "Sound of Silence" too, and I had forgotten about it from long ago, and then it just popped into my thoughts that day. It is very powerful no doubt.

Yes, that is about all we can do really, is lay it down at His feet to begin anew each day.

God bless you real good too. I am also praying for you dear one each and every day!

      Amen dearest Epi,

Thanks for the very early morning visit here in southern USA, and I appreciate the lovely comments. I had to work on republishing an older hub is why I am up so late, and finally did it, as it did need updating.

Your two cats are so lovely, what I have seen. You have superb taste in music, and I can just picture you there with your two cats listening to such awesome music. Your cats would probably think something is up, if you did not put on any music every night.

Thank you for the warm wishes . . . now it is 12:57 a.m. here in southern USA I kind of feel funny talking as my newborn grandson to adults. May be time to switch out the profile picture again. Ha.

and sending you warm wishes while listening to the great Slim Harpo from lake erie time 1:49am

      Hello Audrey,

I do so appreciate you stopping to read and leaving such insightful comments, how refreshing. Yes, love covers a multitude of sins and it matters not whether one is a Christian or not ---to make that choice to love. Thank you so much for adding to this hub with your wise words - love your "2 cents!"

Beautiful piece--especially your closing--I think the answer, if there is one--is to pay it forward--to do good for others just to do good--I am not a Christian in the way that many here are--but I think that if we all recognized the God within each person, how could we fail to love and honor? It is when we lose sight of God within us and within each other that so much hurt happens I think--anyway, just my 2 cents

I never stop having faith in the lord, I know god has a plan for everyone for sure, and when that day comes for me to return back from which I came, I will know all I lived for was worth it, because I never given up believing in him and his powers over us all. Amen!

Humanity does indeed need to learn much more about the almighty one, I'm sure he will make his presence known someday soon.

Joy, Love & Peace be with you Faithreaper, awesome poetry!
