The Simple Things of our Lives

Updated on March 4, 2017

So exhilarating, such exuberance, is refreshing,

The most common things revealed of our lives.

A sunset on an evening's fine horizon, a garden,

Where an insect family all survives, so thrives.

Grand parades of fluffy clouds on a windy day,

Creating our fantasy and in our minds all to play.

Butterflies hovering above every flower's heart,

A world of a special joy here, they each display.

The most delightful, simpler things of all existence,

A place where the kitten may curl, of its insistence.

The hooting of an owl, its special salute to the night,

Those more common threads so weaved just right.

A barking dog greets the morning's reddening dawn,

Birds chitter-chatter, singing their own wake-up song.

A frolicking squirrel, harvesting and then burying nuts,

The wily Bob cat purrs, to growl, as a wild turkey struts.

The whirring grasshoppers and brotherly crickets,

Each one is conversing, passing time in the dark,

There's an Incessant blinking of the lightning bugs,

As a crescent moon sits so still, above us, so stark.

Green rain frogs are all whining, as Bull frogs bleep,

Reminding the swamp critters of promises to keep.

Shallow springs gurgling, the swifter creeks swirling,

Snakes slither, tadpoles hide, while tortoises sleep,

The more simple things, of our lives, we so appreciate,

The kitchen window, open and cooling, to see the lake.

Blowing curtains fluttering about, as the wind takes hold,

Every sweet breath of life, the little things, good as gold.

Aren't we so lucky, to be blessed in each's quaint setting,

Having the most simpler things, our lives, never forgetting?

Rising with the sun, its dawning, bringing in the finest day,

Remembering, all to be thankful, as by an artist, its display.

Another beautiful poem using the symphonic cacophony of nature's sounds as inspiration, whonu!

"The simple", yet not so simple . Only The Creator of the Universe makes things so beautiful .
