The Sinners Would Win

Updated on March 5, 2015

So many children in this country dies,

and the truth is hidden behind lies,

most are killed by a deliberate

act of sadism,

born of the same impulse

that causes small children

to pull the wings off flies,

and so many prayers fill the skies,

murder has become so common

that it fulfills a thrill,

and when it happens,

it no longer has that chill,

sorrow stuck in their throats,

the two women dressed

in white lab coats,

couldn’t fight back the emotions

that rose,

as they hovered

over the dead girl’s clothes,

their faces bathed in studious

professorial intensity,

paying their dues,

they seemed to be massing

a collection of microscopic clues,

as they puttered back and forth,

between the shirt and shoes,

the child’s ghost walked passed

the lab windows and doors,

it watched intently

as hope just covered the floors,

a crime was a crime,

but a sin was a sin,

the ghost seemed to be taking it all in,

but offered no reaction,

because in this case,

the sinner would win.

Wow Frank. I'm not sure what you did to deserve that previous post, but it sounds important.

Otherwise, your poem shows how every part of society is impacted by this horrible crime. Some can't deal with it, while others do. Great job describing the horrific side.

I don't know why but my first thought was abortion, until I read on. I think in America the sinner is more protected too.

      Hi Frank

The law at least in Canada protects the sinner more than the victim.

      Voted up and awesome.

Powerful poetry Frank. Up and awesome. I like how you always speak the truth in your poetry. Every now and then, the old lady watches Nancy Grace. Seems like everday, a young baby or child is missing. Very true poem, sad though.

Its unfortunate that the sinners would win. Tragic, profound and a slice of reality for some children. Its sad when death becomes a common occurrence. I cannot imagine a life as such. Its disheartening. Thank you for sharing this tragic poem. It needed to be said. Voted up.

Great brethren Frank. A victory that is short lived, in the eyes of man after his money , no truth really exist, the reality is already missed , in their minds.

A very intense poem , that exposes the simplicity that Murder has become , it's in some cases no longer a crime , to other humans and even fearfully witnessed by the corpse ghost.

Yes it may seem as if the sinners win, but look again , look carefully and you with see , how their lives reeks with misery and pity.

      Give thanks.

      Bless.

Humanity - capable of extreme light and extreme dark. You have such a clear vision of reality. Undoubtedly from your experience with it. I often wondered how people constantly exposed to the dark side of human nature coped. How do they not lose hope or believe in the lighter side.

I have a couple of trooper buddies who think everyone is a liar, all marriages are in vain, and dark is all around. He looks at me and my daughter as weirdos because we are 'different'.

      I wonder what you believe...
