The Solitary Weeper

Updated on June 3, 2012

As I came upon...Yon Solitary Lass

She lay weeping... in the green grass

I heard her moans... and cry's of despair

wafting loudly... through the cold air

Why do you weep,

What doth.. make you cry

Can you.. my Sweet Young One

Please.. do tell me Why

Her words of sorrow

came from deep within

a tale of love, and lonliness

was the tale she would spin

My Dear sir , she said

My true love has gone away

and only for his return

is why I cry and for what I pray

He has left his true love ...gone

to join the battle.. of a foreign war

sent to bleached... sandy shores

that are dark with death.. and so far.

Where he fights for our country

and he carry's... this love of mine

this weight... he carry's

on his shoulders...so mightily fine

So kind sir... you now know why

I do cry for his safe return

for my love to come home....

for this I do pray..and always yearn

Now... please pray for him

i see you are... a kindred soul..

He and I need your support

Please.... just before you must go

Her plea's of love and prayer

they had stuck me so deep

Promising to pray for her love

This I will and must keep

As I will now go.. on my way

and for all.... just like her

we will pray to make it....

through just another day

Although life must go on

for many... as hard as it is

We all endure love and sorrow

for the ones that we miss

So when you see the young lass

who loves and weeps for me

Tell her of how I will miss...

her sweet fine company

Tell her that I always

will love her so...

tell her not to weep

and have such sorrow

Tell her my spirit

will always be there

My Solitary Lass ..for whom

I will always care

Michael-This is one of the most beautiful poems I have had the pleasure of reading. The pictures to go with your moving words makes it even more touching. Well done my friend.

A spell you wave with your words of love

Divine tender touching, connect to all

Your soul in poetry elegant as a dove

Eraptures the audience, makes you tall

      Mesmerizing poetry Michael...
