The Soul That Cried Rape

She stood in the dark

For her next move

She couldn't speak

Was silenced from the inside

Disturbing madness

Within her

Through aching limbs

That entangled her

She fell to the wet floor

Blood leaving a trail behind her

Washing away all the hate left behind

She laid down for it all to subside

The painful words

Haunting her mind

Torturous chains

Struck deep grind

The intensity

That was

Left behind

Curtains drawn

Where she can

Be safe and let go

He screamed in her face

A stupid child

A disgrace

Worn and forsaken

Left abandoned

Using her up

Then he was gone

This monster

Who beat her

Leaving her for dead

Now all she has

Churning in her head

Broken heart

Broken bed

Her soul cried out

But nobody heard her

He thought he can get away

Without a sound

No slumber

Where could she go

To be safe

Without shame

Somebody who will understand

There is no one

Not even her friends

She goes to sleep

When she wakes up

Hoping to find new peace

You do wonderful work, Caroline, to make even a "rape" poem beautiful.

Thank you Frog Prince for your awesome comment. You are the first to mention the act of your soul being raped in a different context than that of a sexual act itself. It's a great metaphor for all of the hard times that we experience in life. I am sure that you have grown into the great man you are from these horrible incidences. I'm always up to hearing other people's stories if you wanna share. I appreciate you visiting my hubs frequently knowing that you are more into political topics yourself. Love your hubs by the way they are filled with your unique way of using wit to convey your points. I could feel your passion on the topics. Glad you like my poetry. Cheers.

My soul has been raped more than a few times over the years and it is never a pleasant experience. Long stories involved with those incidences of life.

      Great, poignant verses Caroline.

caroline, A powerful poem which vividly conveys the nightmare of rape: fearful, brutal, overwhelming, degrading. Sleep must indeed seem promising, at least by offering temporary oblivion.

The rawness of this poem is astounding. Your empathy in being able to write this is great.

The brutality of rape is devastating to say the least. Any man who commits such a vile act needs to be castrated and sent into exile from this planet. I felt the pain so much in this scribe, I pray this lady found peace eventually and was able to retain her dignity and carry on with her life. How sad, how mad is this world we live in. Powerful scribe my poetic friend.

This one is gut wrenching. How horrible a woman must feel after this act. I hope it is fiction. Voted up and awesome...

carolinemd21 I stopped by to see what youhave been up to lately. You have other profile pictures that look more like the real you, but perhaps this one goes with the poem. I pray this was not the usual personal experience which gives rise to so much of what you usually write about. No man, woman, or child deserves such animal brutality and disdain for another. Looking for a cheerful one next time out, when you can. Up, awesome.

This was a dark poem reflecting the inhumanity towards the victim girl.I can only pray to the god to help such people, the monster will rot in hell.
