The Spirit of Love at Christmas. Monday's Inspiration 23. To Dora Isaac Weithers
“Glory to God in the Highest and on earth, peace, good will to all men.”-Luke 2: 14
Baby in a Manger
The Spirit of Christmas is ever present, riding with Santa on his sleigh, with a choreography of reindeers, gliding past the indigo moon. The Christmas corals and choral of various traditions, imbue a benevolent spirit, a strong and surging energy, in the Heart of man.
I walk past the gift shops, the card shops, the City Centres and they are all crowded. One could easily blame modern consumerism; a turning away from Christ to things mundane, only that people seem tolerant, joyful, and generally happier at this time.
So I speak of the Spirit of Christmas; the energy… never mind that some do not believe in this; never mind that the Spirit of the Saviour can seem absent to others, but people, nevertheless, seem to need the present moment, to celebrate their lives.
So we move forward to good will; to peace on Earth amongst men, women; all sentient and non-sentient beings and we rejoice. How beautiful! Praise God! Alleluia! Glory to Love and the eternal Light.
So now is the time for me to feel that Spirit or surge of energy. The various choral singers do their thing in churches, homes, at stations… the buskers strum their guitar on buses, trains, and subways. My friend dresses up as Santa and plays the Scottish flute while beating her drums. The music is so beautiful!!
Can you hear her, whoever or wherever you are, can you hear the ‘Hark the Herald Angels sing’, the ‘I wish you a Merry Christmas?’ Above all, does it make you a better person, do you feel joy.
Shoppers are smarter now, in the sense that many shop early and so today the crowd, although enough in my neighbourhood, was not too much for me. I saw a few baby Jesus’ lying in their Mangers and one or two Santas’ at subways, doing their thing.
Today was our Christmas party, that small community of my brothers and sisters who celebrate with worship and with silence; with good food and with plays, videos, games and skits. I laughed a lot, like the child does and I felt that humour had become my Saviour. So many of my cobwebs disappeared!
So let us pray or dance; wear festive clothing and do whatever is necessary, so long as it brings real joy. It is the Spirit in the ether; the momentum of energy that permeates from the gladdened Hearts that help us, the omnipotence, omnipresence and omniscience of Something Higher. The sense of Gratitude for our lives, our families and friends; to know that we have come so far and to celebrate the winding down of another hectic twelve months of struggle, or strife.
Today, I offer you my good will, my thankfullness; my Heart’s Gratitude as I laugh and weep with you, not in sorrow, but in celebration for the birth of our Lord as indeed all faiths do, even if they manifest in different ways, the same oneness aspect of the Divine. Our Lord exhorts us to love and to love is to serve:
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." - John, 13: 34.
May the Supreme Presence finds us worthy and may we dance in tune with the life-breath of God the Absolute Sound and Silence. Glory to the One! Hosanna in the Highest! Let us give thanks and Praise. Amen.
O Love, O my Beautiful Love, Come!
Come! O my Sweet tapestry of breath and Being --
This dance that sways me, like a puppet on a string.
You tug at the longing of my soul,
Covering my shadows, with the rays of Thy Sun.
My mother carried the pain of Thy kernel,
Deep inside her sacred sanctum,
But You came to her deliverance,
Turning the sorrow of her afflictions,
To an unutterable, unending joy.
O my Sweetheart; o my unfathomable One,
I felt Your beauty, even in the stranglehold of purgatory.
Dowsing the burning flames of Hades,
You placed Your lips, on the folds of my nakedness,
Flooding my Spirit, with the strands of Thy Delight.
Aye, ‘though I stumble in the dark tunnel of despair,
I see the arrow of Thy resplendence,
Swallowing the very drops of my aloneness,
As they fall like meteors, from my tears of millennia.
O Love, o my Beautiful Love, Come!
